What is mud jacking?

Mud jacking, also known as slab jacking, concrete lifting, or mud pumping, is a process used to raise and level sunken or uneven concrete slabs. This technique is commonly used for fixing sidewalks, driveways, patios, and other concrete surfaces that have settled over time.

The process involves drilling small holes into the sunken concrete slab and then pumping a mixture of water, soil, sand, and cement, known as slurry, under the slab. As the slurry fills the voids beneath the slab, it raises the concrete to its original level.

Mud jacking is typically a cost-effective and quick solution for repairing sunken concrete, as it can be completed in a matter of hours and does not require the removal and replacement of the entire slab. Additionally, the slurry used in mud jacking is environmentally friendly and poses little risk to surrounding vegetation.

While mud jacking is an effective way to repair sunken concrete, it may not be suitable for all situations. In some cases, the underlying soil may be too soft or unstable to support the weight of the concrete slab, or there may be other structural issues that need to be addressed. It is recommended to consult with a professional contractor to determine if mud jacking is the best solution for your concrete repair needs.
